National Autism Awareness Month will be launched on April 1st in New Jersey by DJF
National Autism Awareness Month will be commemorated and launched at ceremony on Thursday, April 1, 2010, 7pm, Ridgewood YMCA, 112 Oak Street, Ridgewood, NJ
The Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation, Ridgewood CAN and the Village of Ridgewood will commemorate and launch the start of National Autism Awareness Month on Thursday, April 1st at 7pm at the opening of an exhibition of art works by artists affected by ASD at the Ridgewood YMCA located at 112 Oak Street. The artists featured are part of the The Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation Arts Unbound Program at the Ridgewood YMCA, a studio art program for adults with ASD. Artworks will be on sale throughout the month of April and proceeds will go the artists. Reception generously donated by Whole Foods Market of Ridgewood. The public is invited to attend this opening event free of charge.
The diagnosis of Autism affects 1 in 94 people in New Jersey and it is the goal of Autism Awareness Month to educate the public about this lifelong challenge and to celebrate the achievements, strengths and talents of individuals affected by it. Throughout the month of April The Daniel Jordan Fiddle will be sponsoring events throughout Bergen County including April family shopping tours and nutritional guidance at Whole Foods Market, Ridgewood, a dance theater performance by Cresskill Performing Arts Company, a cut-a-thon at Highlights by Design in Glen Rock and a Get-in-Step with Autism Event at Gardiner& Co Fashion Shoe Boutique in Ridgewood. On Saturday, April 17th, Ridgewood CAN and The Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation will sponsor a showing of a documentary film entitled,”The Asperger Difference” at the Ridgewood Community Center at 3:00pm.
